ABOUT CAMP

If you are seeking a camp which will contribute to your daughter's character and development, protect her welfare and safety, augment her happiness, and increase her self-esteem, Red Pine is it. Red Pine is a traditional girls residential camp that prides itself on professional staff, excellent maintenance & individual attention.

Individual activity programming is determined by abilities and interests, allowing campers to meet and interact with campers outside of their cabin group. Campers are encouraged in a safe and supportive environment to enter wholeheartedly into the fun and spirit of daily life and adventure. Activity choices include sailing/windsurfing, canoeing, camp crafts & nature, horseback riding, water skiing, archery, tennis, arts & crafts (ceramics & pottery), theatre, mountain biking, swimming and much more. Four and eight week sessions are available for girls ages 7-16.

Staff

A successful camping season depends on a positive, enthusiastic, kind, caring, and supportive counseling staff. Red Pine has a primarily female staff with a few men hired for selected positions. Staff, 19 years and older, have a demonstrated commitment to the well being of children, have skills in one or more of our activity offerings, love the out-of-doors, and can serve as positive role models for our campers.

Every staff applicant goes through a thorough application and interview process designed specifically to determine strength of character, skill competency in a particular art or sport, and the ability to work as a cooperative community member. Each staff member signs Red Pine’s Code of Conduct that clearly sets forth a no usage policy regarding drinking, tobacco and drugs. Among other standards, staff also agree to adhere to nighttime curfews, support Red Pine’s traditions and policies, communicate concerns responsibly, and care for children in a loving and professional manner.

While the hours at camp are long and work is often hard, we can guarantee that if you put forth your best effort, it is an experience that will enrich your life forever!

Leadership-Counselor in Training

An aspiration of even the youngest camper is to become a Red Pine counselor! The majority of our staff have been former campers who have participated in Red Pine’s three-year Leadership Training Program. The highest level a camper can attain is recognition as a Leadership Girl. These girls participate as full-tuition campers in all camp activities under the guidance of staff advisors, and are given additional responsibilities and growth opportunities. After their first Leadership year, they are eligible to apply for Counselor-in-Training – Level 1 (CIT 1), where they specialize in chosen departments and train as cabin counselors. In the third year, preceding their entrance into college, those completing the program serve as CIT 2. Girls in CIT 1 and CIT 2 are paid for their efforts. Camp tuition is waived although they are still working to achieve full staff status.

ACTIVITIES

Camp life is made of sunshine, campfires, friendships, sunsets, the call of the loon, laughter ringing through the woods, the swinging of cabin doors, jumping into the lake on a hot afternoon, and more. Come and discover the spirit of Red Pine! Each link to the left has been carefully designed to give you an accurate representation of camp life.
