Our Mission

To enable all young people to reach their full potential as responsible citizens through education, recreation, and other positive community experiences in partnership with the Grand Rapids Police Department.

Our Vision

To provide a world class Camp and Club Experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who enters our doors, with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle.

Our Strategy

Boys & Girls Clubs subscribe to the theory that programs should provide youth with a Sense of Belonging, a Sense of Usefulness, a Sense of Competence, and a Sense of Power or Influence. When this has been established, the self-esteem of youth will be enhanced.

ACTIVITIES 

Rock Climbing

Take your summer to new heights and overcome your fears on the climbing wall! There are two levels of excitement that each camper gets the opportunity to climb!

Tubing

For our older campers, enjoy a nice float with your new friends down the Thornapple River.

Biking

Hop on a bike, grab your helmet and join your cabin mates on a fun bike ride throughout the biking trails at Camp O’Malley!

Fishing

The Thornapple River is a fisherman’s paradise! Campers get the opportunity to bait their hooks and catch all kinds of fish in the river each week!

Kayaking

Join your counselors, friends and camp lifeguards for a fun adventure Kayaking! Learn how to paddle and steer your kayak as you enjoy the beautiful nature on Campau Lake.

Arts & Crafts

Be creative and make Tie dye shirts and friendship bracelets. How about making superhero masks or comic books? The possibilities are endless when it comes to the Craft House at Camp O’Malley!

Swimming

Cool off during the hot summer days in the pool!! Once campers pass a swim test, they are able to swim in the deep end. If campers are new to swimming, they spend time in the three foot deep shallow end. With multiple Lifeguards and Aquatic Observers, swimming is a safe and fun activity for everyone at camp!

High Ropes Course

Offered to campers ages 12+. Enjoy a high ropes obstacle course in the trees! Work with your cabin mates to balance your way from telephone pole to telephone pole on a variety of tight ropes. Don’t worry you are always harnessed in for safety!

Camp Events and Programs

Each night campers participate in a camp wide events and Programs! Some of these events and programs include The O’Malley Relay Rally, Capture the Flag, Campfires, Egg Drop and Capture The Villian. Evenings are always an adventure filled time at camp!

Outdoor Discovery

Thanks to our partnership with the Outdoor Discovery Center of Holland, campers will get to see, touch and learn about all different kinds of animals like turtles, frogs, snakes and birds!

Low Ropes Course

Get to know your new friends at camp better, as you go through the low ropes course together. These obstacles are just slightly above the ground and consist of a series of real and imaginary obstacles designed to help campers work together.

Talent Show

Every Thursday night campers can show off a variety of talents at our talent show! Choreograph a dance with your cabin, sing your favorite song, or act out your favorite movie. Whatever your heart desires, the talent show is always a weekly highlight for campers!

Nature Trails

Enjoy the great outdoors and hike Camp O’Malley’s nature trails with your counselor and cabin mates!  Discover new things and see unique birds, reptiles, mammals, flowers and plants!

Archery

Become the next Robin Hood with your bow and arrow. Our highly trained staff will guide you a long as you aim to hit a variety of targets! For campers ages 12+.
