ABOUT CAMP

We are thrilled that you are considering Camp Lochearn for Girls for your summer fun and adventure! For almost 100 years Lochearn has been a place that girls like to call home. One of the most important things for you to know is that Lochearn is a very positive, loving, and welcoming place. New girls are instantly drawn into the Lochearn circle and made to feel welcomed from the moment they arrive. As a community, we promote kindness and consideration. Cliques and meanness are just not a part of our summer community. At Lochearn, everyone has something special to give and to gain from her time at camp, and the qualities that make her unique are embraced and encouraged. We hope that you will choose to be part of our community of goodness where it is "Cool to be Kind!"

Lochearn offers over 40 activities in these main areas: performing arts, studio arts, land sports, water sports, fitness, English riding, leadership training, community service, and outdoor adventure. This wide array of offerings is extensive and diverse allowing each girl to try new activities and discover and enhance her passions. Each Lochearn girl and her family designs her individual schedule.

Lochearn is a teaching camp, offering our 80 staff members training in teaching, coaching and counseling. All of Lochearn’s 40 plus activities offer progressive skill development. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced level classes enable girls to return year after year and continue to build on their skills, confidence, and self-esteem.

ACTIVITIES

With more than forty activity offerings to choose from within the areas of land and water sports, studio and performing arts, climbing on the Alpine Tower and horseback riding, Lochearn is a camp for everyone.

Each girl designs her own activity schedule sampling from a range of activities or focusing on areas that most interest her. While each day has structure, that structure is built around each girl's own schedule which she has determined and is immensely excited to explore!

Campers and their parents select activities prior to arrival at camp, and scheduling is done for the first two weeks of camp using those choices. After two weeks, our campers again choose activities to be used for the 2nd two weeks of camp.

Campers are assigned a schedule using their choices and have a set of activities that are done on one day and then a second set of activities that are done on the alternate day. At the end of each program afternoon girls enjoy a “Free Choice” period. They can spontaneously choose from a variety of fun and exciting offerings. These include waterskiing, open waterfront, open gymnastics, tennis tournaments, stable management, theatre rehearsals, sailing regattas, paddle boarding, bumper-tubing and many unique and special offerings in land sports and studio arts.

In addition to the regularly schedule program days, there are breaks in their schedule for “special” days with a varied daily program during those days.
