ABOUT CAMP

4-H Camp Palmer is a modern camping complex nestled away in the woods adjacent to Harrison State Park in Fayette, Ohio.  Operated in conjunction with The Ohio State University, and Ohio State University Extension, the camp features complete indoor and outdoor living and recreational facilities.4-H Camp Palmer offers youth and adult opportunities to groups interested in outdoor and environmental education,  leadership and team development programs.

In 2004, an independent research firm completed the largest research study of camper outcomes ever conducted in the United States with over 3,000 families from 92 camps across the U.S. participating.Results confirmed that camp builds many of the skills necessary to prepare campers to assume roles as successful adults. Parents, campers, and camp staff independently reported growth in areas such as self-confidence, learning new skills, getting along with others, making friends, and making healthy decisions. Indeed, camp provides growth experiences for youth that can reap results through adulthood.

Camp provides unique experiences for the additional growth of 4-H members.  Campers can relate and apply camp leadership and camp living experiences directly into their home, school, church, and  community life.  4-H Camp is a place where youth may come to experience nature.   Programs offered help 4-H member better understand and appreciate nature and out-of-doors.  Appreciation comes from living with it and making its intimate acquaintance.  The out-of-doors provides a  wonderful opportunity for each camper to develop skills or hobbies  for wise use of leisure time and not regard it as a period to be  dreaded  'because I have nothing to do.'  Constructive wise use of  leisure time is essential in youth and adulthood.
