ABOUT CAMP

Camper and staff return rates that are among the highest in camping attest to the power of the Scatico experience. We are indebted to the thousands of campers, counselors, and parents who have made the magical journey possible.

Since 1921, through 3 generations of family ownership, Scatico has provided the skills, values, friendships, and memories that make traditional camping a life-enriching experience.

Some distinguishing features:

• Stability and continuity. Owned for three generations by the Fleischner/Holman Family since opening in 1921. 

• A true brother-sister camp. Separate facilities, campuses, dining rooms, waterfronts…. on a single property. During the day, it feels like two single-sex camps, but with the distinct advantage that campers do not have to travel off-site for coed activities and full-camp special events. The main campuses are approximately ? mile apart.

• Daily uniform. Campers wear plain white t-shirts and green shorts daily (no logo needed). The uniform is simple and supports our goal of minimizing social pressures.

• High camper and staff return rates. Ninety percent or more of our campers and nearly three-quarters of our staff return each summer.  

• High staff-to-camper ratios. The ratio of staff living in cabins to campers is less than 1-to-4. Add in Leadership Staff and program heads not living with campers and the ratio is less than 1-to-3.

Camp should be a “second home,” a place where campers find their identity and are at their best.
