ABOUT CAMP

Located one hour north of downtown Milwaukee, YMCA Camp Matawa is nestled in the Northern Kettle Moraine State Forest. Matawa provides a welcoming atmosphere and a sense of home through our dedication to inclusion and smaller camp setting. Here we not only accept campers’ differences, we celebrate them.

We hire highly qualified counselors, some of whom are international, adding to the spirit of diversity.

Activities: Canoeing, archery, climbing wall, horseback riding, nature, fishing, swimming pool, sports, arts & crafts, campfires, gaga ball, off-camp trips, alpine tower, mountain biking and skateboarding.

The smaller camp setting (130 campers per week) is an ideal environment for campers who thrive in a more close-knit community with individualized attention.     

At YMCA Camps, kids get to just be kids and enjoy a safe, positive environment where friendships grow and kids discover new wonders in themselves and others. While the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee continues its efforts to seek a new operator for Camp Matawa, those efforts are still ongoing.  Therefore, we encourage all families to embrace the spirit of Camp Minikani in 2015.
