ABOUT CAMP
Established in 1928, the South Shore YMCA Camp Burgess and Hayward has been a leader in Massachusetts camping for over 80 years. Located on Cape Cod just one hour south of Boston in the historic town of Sandwich, the brother-sister camps are situated on over 300 acres of forests, meadows and sparkling freshwater ponds. With one and two-week sessions, Camp Burgess & Hayward have programs for boys and girls ages 7-16.

HAYWARD FOR GIRLS
OUR CAMPING TRADITION
Located on Cape Cod surrounded by beautiful Spectacle Pond, Camp Hayward has been an overnight camp of the South Shore Y since 1960. Offering one and two week sessions for girls ages 7 to 16, Camp Hayward is located across the pond from Camp Burgess. Our brother-sister structure allows Hayward campers to benefit from an all-girl environment while also experiencing safe and positive opportunities for co-ed social interaction.
THE HAYWARD EXPERIENCE
Camp Hayward is a place for girls to gain independence, build community and foster friendships. By learning new skills, Hayward campers will develop self confidence and self respect, based on an appreciation of their own worth as individuals. Campers experience independence and problem solving skills as they learn to live and explore their interests with seven other cabin mates!

OUR COUNSELORS
We employ amazing female role models from across the country and the world. Many of our staff are former campers, who have participated in our Counselor-in-Training (CIT) and Junior Counselor (JC) programs. They often speak of “giving back” to a place that has help them develop into strong leaders. We also have many staff from across the globe- Australia to Scotland.
With two counselors in each cabin of eight, a strict background and criminal history check are diligently performed on all applicants in the US as well as home countries for international staff. Our staff also participate in an 8 – 14 day training program that includes safety and emergency procedures, policies, traditions and fun!

ACTIVITIES
rom singing in the dining hall to dressing up for the co-ed dance, creative expression can be found all over the place at Camp Burgess and Hayward. During the day we like to take all this creative energy and focus it into some fantastic organized activities.
