ABOUT CAMP
Cheerio Traditional Camp offers summer residential camping for children ages 7-15. During the five weeks of girls camp or the five weeks of coed camp, Cheerio offers campers the chance to participate in over 35 different activities that help them explore and develop their potential and their lives as young Christians in an environment that is safe and supportive.
Cheerio Adventure offers adventure tripping programs for youth, teens and youth camping for children ages 7-15. Adventures include rock climbing, whitewater kayaking, canoeing, rafting, backpacking, caving (spelunking), sailing, wind surfing, sea kayaking and mountain biking. Single and mulitple activity summer camp programs are available. Adventure locations inlcude NC, VA, WV and TN, varying in location from mountains to sea.
Camp Cheerio is located on 135 acres high atop the eastern side of the Blue Ridge Mountains - plenty of room to run, play and grow - just an hour away from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. See our map for our location and directions.
With the Blue Ridge Mountains and many other points of interest all within a short distance to camp, our campers can also take advantage of many exciting day excursions. Day trips include canoeing on the New River, going to Carowinds, caving and climbing and other out-of-camp excursions. We want our campers to be busy and enjoying themselves the whole time they are at Cheerio.
The facilites at Camp Cheerio and Cheerio Adventures offer a wide variety of possibilities during the months when camp is not in session. Group Rentals offers groups an opportunity to incorporate wilderness adventure activities into exciting camping experience. Outdoor Adventure Education offers school groups a chance to experience outdoor activites that build team spirit and build self esteem for all members of the group. Senior Adult Camp allows seniors to enjoy the facilities and activites as Camp Cheerio and the fellowship of the residential camp experience.
