ABOUT CAMP
Camp Jackson Dodds is located in the heart of the lower Laurentians, approximately 1 hour North of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Situated on the shores of Lake Tamaracouta, the camp program takes full advantage of its beautiful surroundings with sailing, canoeing, kayaks, swimming, and of course, fishing! Our overnight programs offer 2nd year youth a chance to sleep in tree houses, while the 3rd year youth get a chance to live life as a Scout, with an overnight adventure.
Our highly motivated staff were chosen and trained by the Quebec Council to provide the highest quality of service to our members. The Director and the Program Director, as well as all department supervisors are experienced within their respective disciplines.
Individual Camping – Composite Camping
Encouraging all individuals: are you looking for a bit more out of camp this summer? Are you interested in staying up a bit longer than your group? Did you want to take part in the full theme program for the summer? Not an active part of a scout group this year? Looking to meet others from different groups? Whether any of the above applies to you, here is your chance to take part in a summer camp program. Individual campers are assigned to counsellors and join our resident Scout groups. Your stay will be in our Prospector Tents, there will also be the opportunity for survival overnight camping, and participating in a variety of programs. Composite Camping programs will also be actively involved in the theme based programs of the summer. This is open to all youth from 8-14 years of age.
Family Camp
Bring your whole family for Family Camp at Camp Tamaracouta. Take the opportunity to develop your family survival skills, camp craft skills, or just enjoy the opportunity to do programs in the woods. Family Camp is catered program and is scheduled during the 5th and 6th weeks of Summer Camp. Bring your own tents, or use our tented accommodation. Three meals per day, unlimited equipment rental (sign in and out procedure at the administration building), and full program for children is provided (with parental supervision). Children under five camp and eat free!
Day Camp
If you live in the area, or cottage in the area, then you are welcome to participate in the day camp program. Program options for the day camp will follow the themes below, and will work on the skill basis outlined by Scouts Canada.
LEADER IN TRAINING (LIT) PROGRAM
Once again in summer 2014 we are offering a full L.I.T. program for youth aged 15-16. The program will run for 7 weeks at a cost of $2500 and will consist of leadership and skill training laced with a healthy dose of camp fun. A canoe trip will help cement friendships, practice skills and teach outdoor leadership. Participants receive certifications in lifeguarding, standard and wilderness first aid and are registered with the Quebec Camping Association. Graduates from the program receive preference when we are hiring for summer camp. Information about the program has been sent by email to all Venturers of the correct age - please encourage any Venturers whom you feel would be up for the challenge to apply. Limit of 12 participants so don't delay!

Traditional one week programs can include the following program options. Canoeing, kayaking, sailing, archery, riflery, ecology, wood crafts, mountain biking, camp craft, outdoor cooking, and swimming.
