ABOUT CAMP
Camp Farwell, a Vermont, New England sleepaway summer camp for girls ages 6-17, has been a special place for its campers since 1889. Situated in the Green Mountain State on Halls Lake, our magnificent 100-acre site offers a wonderful location for a rich variety of activities — from riding to water sports, from music and dance to team endeavors and individual pursuits.
If there were three ingredients that could be said to form each girl’s Camp Farwell experience, they would be friendship, community spirit, and a warm family environment. At the heart of the Camp Farwell experience is an underlying belief in the importance of personal growth, self-confidence, and an appreciation for nature’s beauty.
Camp Farwell has thrived as a New England girls overnight summer camp for over 120 years and through each summer the camp has continued to draw enthusiastic campers returning for their second or fifth season, new campers who leave with a heightened sense of beauty and friendship, and a dedicated staff who love the work they do and respect the role that Camp Farwell plays in the campers’ lives.
The average family today looks a lot different than it did 100 years ago. Guess what? So do we.
We welcome all of you. At Camp Farwell we celebrate our differences and learn from each other. We value and promote kindness, inclusion and tolerance. Our community is rich in diversity and helps to make each of us more aware and appreciative of how big the world is, while also realizing just how similar we are inside. Each camper and family is unique and extremely important to us – we continuously go the extra mile in order to accommodate your needs and welcome you into our world.
We are a traditional overnight camp with modern values
We offer a traditional activity program, and we give our campers the power of choice – to choose only the activities they want to do
We provide an “unplugged” environment for girls to thrive in by increasing their social and emotional intelligence, and providing an elective Girls Empowerment & Leadership Program: SHINE
We provide three delicious meals a day in our historic dining room. Our kitchen staff can accommodate campers and staff who may have food allergies, sensitivities or dietary requirements. We always provide a vegetarian entrée
We are a supportive community for girls to grow while away from their parents, and we have a transparent communication policy. After the first week campers can call home on camp-provided cell phones. Marley also gives her personal cell phone to all parents – they can call/email/text/What’s App her anytime (even on the first night)
Your family is special and unique. So are we.
ACTIVITIES
Campers choose their own activities each week and follow that schedule Monday through Friday. There are five activity periods in a typical day–three in the morning and two in the afternoon. Some activities are grouped by age, some by ability and other groups are mixed to include different ages and abilities.
Upon arrival, campers are evaluated in certain activities such as swimming, riding and tennis. When complete, campers are audience to a show by our counselor staff who explain and demonstrate their activities to our campers. With the exception of swimming lessons for beginning swimmers, there are no required activities.
JFY - Just For You
