YMCA Leaders strive to incorporate our core values in the delivery of programs.
This instils in campers the appreciation of nature, the building of individual self-confidence and the strengthening of community.
Activities offered at Anglesea utilise the local coastal environment, bushland, local rivers and open areas of the camp.

High challenge activities
Challenge your group with a range of adventure based activities in a supportive group environment that will enhance participants interpersonal skills and build team work.
Summer aquatic activities
Anglesea has close access to the beach and conducts a multitude of water based adventure activities from September to April each year.
Large Group activities
A great way to build a strong community spirit on camp, involving all campers is with a fun, challenging large group activity.
Group led (teacher/leader) activities
Anglesea also offers a range of recreational camp activities that your group can lead safely and to enhance your camp program.
Night Activities
Bring your night camping program to life with a range of evening activities to experience under the stars or in the comfort of the Recreation Centre.
Environmental Activities
Anglesea is an region of national significance in terms of biodiversity. Roll your sleeves up and get involved in our fun environmental weeding program, learn about how we 'close the environmental loop' on camp with our chickens, compost and worm farm.

Kids and Families Getting Active Outdoors
“Adventure Unplugged” is an outdoor adventure event hosted by YMCA Camp Manyung, that provides opportunities for kids aged 8 – 13 years and families to experience a range of outdoor activities in a coastal environment that are Fun, Safe and Active. Kids and families will experience the joy of unplugging from screens for a day, breathing the fresh sea air, getting active, free play, connecting with nature and with each other.
The event celebrates Nature Play Week and Premiers Active April and aims to expose kids aged 8 – 13 years to a range of opportunities to discover more about the natural world whilst learning new outdoor skills.
A day to journey in a Sea Kayak, snorkel to discover a hidden underwater world, catch a fish, paddle a nipper board, sand sculpt, rock pool ramble, take a boat ride on Port Phillip Bay, play beach sports and more..

Time: 10.30am – 3pm
Venue: Sunnyside Beach Mt Eliza, parking available in Sunnyside Beach Carpark and designated areas of Sunnyside road
What to Bring:
Bathers and Towel
Sunscreen, Hat
Wetsuit (if you have one)
Clothing suitable for all weather conditions
Camera to capture the fun and action
Your sense of adventure!
NOTE: Kids WETSUITS are provided for Snorkelling and Beach Education
Food:
BBQ food, cold drinks and coffee are available to purchase at the event, with all proceeds going to YMCA Open Doors Fund, supporting disadvantaged children to attend camp.
Activity Program:
Water-Based Activities
Snorkelling: Learn how to snorkel whilst exploring the marine life on a shallow reef at Sunnyside Beach
Bay Discovery Boat Trip: On board Camp Manyung’s 22ft Southwind boat, discover the history of Port Phillip Bay and local coastal environment
Sea Kayaking: Paddle in pairs on a double sit-on-top Sea Kayak and take a short journey along the coastline of Port Phillip Bay. NOTE: Children aged 8 – 10 years require an adult partner in kayak.
Beach Education: Learn about the how to stay safe and enjoy an open water environment and have fun paddling a boogie board, nipper board and participating in surf lifesaving activities
Beach-Based Activities
Rock Pool Rambling: Explore the rock pools and discover the wildlife of the of the intertidal zone
Sand Sculpting: Create a work of art on the beach, using materials that nature provides
Beach Games: Get active in a range of beach games involving beach volleyball, beach cricket, bocce, flag races, punctured drum relays and more..
All Activities are suitable for children and young people aged 8 – 13 years.
All water and land based activities are led by qualified YMCA instructors. YMCA outdoor activity program is accredited through the Australian Tourism Accreditation Program and compliant with Australian Adventure Activity Standards.
Purchasing your ticket:
To avoid disappointment, YMCA strongly recommends you purchase your ticket in advance via the Eventbrite on-line ticketing supplier. Your ticket entitles you to event entry and participation in 1 or 2 water based activities to be selected at the time of ticket purchase and unlimited participation in the beach activities.
Adults are encouraged to fully participate in the adventure activities; however adults who choose to spectate do not require purchasing a ticket. An adult guardian must be present at the event to supervise their children.
Once you have purchased your on-line ticket, it will be emailed to you. Be sure to print it and bring with you to the registration desk at the event to collect your activity tokens and have an adult guardian to sign participation waiver form. Event Registration opens at 10.30am.
Tickets are also available to purchase on the day from registration, unless the event is SOLD OUT in advance.
