Free Choice – Personally Tailored Scheduling

Take your pick! Camp White Mountain's and Camp Green Briar's free choice scheduling gives children finishing third through tenth grade the opportunity to make their own schedule with nearly 45 different activities to choose from. Campers work with their counselors and specialty staff to select the activities they want. This makes each campers schedule fun and challenging!  From basketball to woodworking, if you like it - it's yours.

At Camp White Mountain and Camp Green Briar we also incorporate group activities and team sports to help develop individual talents. We schedule a few rotation periods during the week when cabins participate in assigned activities. This not only ensures campers gain exposure to a variety of activities, but also helps create those lifelong friendships that are so important in a complete camping experience.

Younger Campers

For younger campers in kindergarten through second grade, days are always different and never dull!  Cabins participate together in organized, diverse activities that expose these campers to all the activities camp has to offer.  They travel as a group with a counselor to give the necessary structure needed with younger children.

We are known for our extensive selection of quality and diverse activities taught in an enthusiastic, fun-filled environment.  Our experienced instructors and coaches are trained to teach campers of all ability levels.  Whether a camper is a beginner or an expert, every camper feels like a pro!

Sports:

With 10 tennis courts, multiple batting cages, an indoor professional hardwood basketball court, beach volleyball courts and professionally lit baseball, softball, soccer and our famous football fields, athletes shine at Camp White Mountain and Camp Green Briar!  Our tennis program is renowned as one of the finest in the industry. 

A favorite Camp White Mountain and Camp Green Briar tradition is Sunday Night Football, which is a flag football league that was started over 20 years ago by campers and counselors. Children love playing under the lights, while announcers broadcast and all of their friends are watching.

Visual & Performing Arts

Camp’s got talent…and lots of it! If your child likes to perform, then Camp White Mountain and Camp Green Briar is the place to be. We put on three plays in our Almost Heaven Playhouse, where every camper who tries out gets a role. Our circus program is taught by a team of professionals, who teach campers to fly on the Trapeze and participate in a circus show that we perform twice a summer for the rest of the camp

Water Sports:

Known as the “center of camp”, our swimming pool has a staff of Red Cross certified lifeguards to instruct all of the basics of swimming skills while providing a safe and fun place to relax and splash around.  For the canoeing, rope swing and tubing enthusiast, the Cacapon River surrounds our campus to provide the perfect natural setting.  For our adventurous campers, we also offer waterskiing on the Shenandoah River taught by our experienced instructors.

A typical day at Camp White Mountain and Camp Green Briar is divided into five activity periods. Campers follow the personalized schedule they have chosen.  They get to choose two separate schedules, one for an "A" day and one for a "B" day.  The “A” and “B” schedules fall on alternating days with the exception of specialty days.

Over the years we have developed a welcoming culture that promotes a caring and nurturing camp family to look after the wellbeing of every child.  At Camp White Mountain and Camp Green Briar, we believe children experience everything camp has to offer by creating strong and lasting bonds with their cabin mates and counselors.

Sessions

Our summer program truly has something for everyone. Camp White Mountain and Camp Green Briar has 250 campers per session. This is the perfect size to give every camper the individualized attention to make his or her summer unique.   We also have an even distribution of campers for every age group.
At Camp White Mountain and Camp Green Briar, we have sessions to meet every family’s need.  We offer two half sessions and one full session.  Each half session is a separate experience, where campers arrive and leave on the same day. We also offer a special 2 week session for younger campers looking to experience camp for the first time.  Our philosophy is to house children that are in the same age group and session. Therefore, cabins are not disrupted by campers coming and going and nobody feels left out.

Camp Divisions

While we see ourselves as one big happy camp, we structure our camp into three divisions in order to provide the personalized attention that Camp White Mountain and Camp Green Briar is known for.

Juniors (Grades K - 3)
Inters (Grades 4 - 6)
Seniors (Grades 7 - 10)

These divisions function as smaller, individual groups which allow us to provide activities geared for specific groups.
