Weekly ThemesSummer 2015 Dress-Up Theme Nights*Junior WeekThursday: Western Rodeo - Thursday night is Rodeo night at FC! Break out your finest western duds—boots, blue jeans, button down shirts, cowboy (or cowgirl) hats, and belt buckles—and join us for a boot stomping night at Frontier Camp’s world famous rodeo!Friday: A Party Out of This World! - Prepare to blast off out of this world with our Friday night theme party as we “Boldly go” to the “Final Frontier”! Calling all astronauts, Jedi Masters, Starfleet officers, and Droids —break out your flight suits, phasers, lightsabers, and Princess Leia hairdos.Need some quick and easy costume ideas? You could go for something as simple as a space themed t-shirt (anything with stars, planets, Guardians of the Galaxy, Star Wars, or Star Trek logos, for example). A little trimming and stitching will transform an extra white sheet into a Star Wars Princess Leia dress. An old martial arts outfit can make a great Luke Skywalker costume. Or if you’re a Star Trek fan, pair a red, yellow, or blue long-sleeved shirt with black pants.Teen WeekSunday: Titan Challenge - We like to start things off with a bang, and the Titan Challenge, our favorite “welcome-to-camp-let’s-get-muddy” adventure, is no exception. Pack a set of old clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty and prepare to join your cabin in a super fun, teambuilding obstacle course race.Thursday: Country Fair Carnival & Rodeo - Calling all cowboys and cowgirls at heart! Start practicing your whooping and hollering ‘cause it’s time to get your country on! Don’t forget to bring your plaid shirts, fancy boots, and belt buckles for a night of county fair games, carnival food, and fast riding at the rodeo!Friday: Pirate Adventure - Ahoy there, mateys, and welcome aboard for a rip-roaring adventure on the high seas for our Friday night theme. Break out your eye-patches, earrings, and spotted bandanas, and join Captain Jack Sparrow’s crew with Polly the Parrot and the Dread Pirate Roberts too.Need some quick and easy costume ideas? A loose fitting white or striped shirt paired with cropped pants or knee high boots are a great place to start. Thrift stores are the place to go for pirate gear. You can find old white blouses with ruffles, oversized vests and coats, even used boots for a lot cheaper than at costume stores. If you want to keep it super easy, throw on an eyepatch and tie a red bandana around your head. Pirates are all about bling, so add a gold hoop earring, and you’ll be good to go. *Note: All camper dress code regulations must be followed, even on theme nights. Theme nights are not mandatory, but they are a lot of fun, and we encourage all campers to try and participate in them. These themes were picked with ease of costume/outfit in mind and should not require expensive costumes. For most campers, between what they already have, and possibly a quick trip to a thrift store, a fun and camp-friendly costume can be found. These popular weeks are especially designed with your home-schooled campers in mind! We offer one Junior Week (Junior Week 1) for home schoolers ages 7 to 12 and two Teen Weeks (Teen Week 1 and Teen Week 9) for home schoolers ages 13 to 17. These weeks are the same program as our other camp weeks, but feature a staff with many homeschool graduates and are made up of homeschoolers from across Texas! Join us for 7 days and 6 nights (Sunday afternoon through Saturday morning) of the best activities, friends, food, songs, skits, fun and Biblical lessons you’ll have all year. Come see what we have in store this summer during our 17th summer of homeschool camping and be part of a homeschool tradition! |
