ABOUT CAMP
YMCA Camp Ernst is the most popular residential summer camp in the Greater Cincinnati area. We offer week long programs each summer for campers ages 6-15. Steeped in tradition and built on the YMCA values of honesty, caring, responsibility and respect, Camp Ernst hosts campers who enjoy top notch counselors and make friends, doing a wide variety of activities including zipline, banana boat, 100 ft waterslide, giant swing, horseback riding, the BLOB, and much more! Week 1: June 7-13
Superhero: Bring a cape or make one for your favorite superhero.
Week 2: June 14-20
Wacky Tacky: Dig deep into your closet to make the mis-matchyest outfit you can find! The week is full of loud clothes and crazy hairdoos.
Week 3: June 21-27
Birthday Bash: It doesn't have to be your birthday to appreciate a good party! Dress up with the rest of us as we celebrate everyone's birthday in one week.
Week 4: June 28-July 4
4th of July: Sunday night we'll be clad in our most patriotic gear. Week 4 always has a fun Parade and we finish the week with a BANG! Fireworks over the Lake!
Week 5: July 5-11
International Celebration: Pick your favorite country to represent and join us as we celebrate our heritage and the homes of our many international counselors.
Week 6: July 12-18
All-Star: Be whatever All-Star you want to be. Movie-star, baseball hall of famer, chess world champ, whatever it may be!
Week 7: July 19-25
Welcome Christmas 5 months early with our Christmas in July celebrations. Dust off your Santa hats and jingle bells for a party rockin around the shade tree.
Week 8: July 26-August 1
Spy Week: Mission Fun!
Week 9: August 2-8 Reserved for military families' Camp Corral
Beach Party: We welcome Camp Corral and say "Aloha" to a week of a beach fun. Dress in your favorite beach towel, bring a lei, and soak up that sweet Kentucky summer sun!
Crew Program
CREW PROGRAM
The Camp Ernst Crew Program is a leadership experience for those entering the 10th grade in Fall 2015.
The crew program is designed to help foster responsibility, positive learning, teamwork, initiative, and a caring attitude that crew members will be able to use in and out of camp. To achieve this, the crew will participate in trainings, leadership rotations, guest speakers, and experiential service learning during their two week stay. They will form a tight knit group with the other crew members as they work together to complete a variety of tasks throughout their stay.
CREW RESPONSIBILITIES
The Crews primary responsibility during their two week stay will be to perform an assortment of jobs throughout the camp. These tasks include cleaning dishes, serving food, cleaning bathrooms, sweeping, mopping, working on facility projects such as clearing trails and painting projects, and picking up trash. These experiences are used to develop the leadership skills that will be beneficial in the future summers at camp and other future endeavors.
CAMP ACTIVITIES
Crew also finds time for the classic camp fun you may remember as a camper. Their college-age leaders will schedule time at the ropes course, lake, and pools. There will be opportunities for creek hikes, campouts, campfires, night hikes, mountain biking and much more. Crew members will attend opening and closing campfires as well as the Camp Ernst Party every Thursday. Crew members will also be given some opportunities to assist with camp-wide programming.

CREW LEADERS
The crew participants have their own set of counselors who supervise them throughout their two week stay. These counselors, also known as crew leaders, schedule time for crew members to do all of the classic camp activities like the ropes course and lake, plan fun evening programs, and help foster friendships and a sense of community amongst the group. These college-age counselors are committed to helping young people develop into caring, responsible leaders. Counselors go through a week long training program as well as regular in-services, and are trained in all the basics including first aid/CPR, bully-prevention, and child abuse prevention, as well as how to help kids make friends and work together.
SESSION DATES
The Crew sessions for summer 2015 are listed below. Please note that Crew members stay at camp for the complete two week session (they do not go home on the weekend between their first and second week). Most crew sessions currently have a waitlist.
Session A: June 7 - 20
Session B: June 20 - July 4
Session C: July 5 - 18
Session D: July 19 - August 1
Session E: August 2-8 (for crew members who have already completed a two week session)
The cost for the crew program is $450 for the two week session, and an additional $125 if you choose to sign up for session E for a third week option.
