INTRODUCTION
An Introduction to Educo
Educo Canada is a charitable organization that uses wilderness adventures, community-based projects and international journeys, to provide transformative learning experiences for youth that enable them to connect with self, envision their possibilities, embrace their unique talents and abilities and foster healthy, lifelong connections to nature and community.
Why are we different?
Through our Educo Adventure School, we focus on using the outdoors as a classroom to develop the skills and strengths that enable young people to create and participate in sustainable healthy communities. Though Educo students also learn "hard skills" such as outdoor survival etc., our programs are focussed primarily on drawing out the essential aspects of group communication, self development and interpersonal awareness.
We also run community leadership programs, international programs, and provide professional retreats, teambuilding programs and consulting services for groups and organizations.
Educo has been providing unique and powerful programs for the past 43 years. We engage youth from many backgrounds and we include local custom in all of our courses. Educo Adventure School is located on 160 acres in the South Cariboo region of B.C., Canada and our programs are run from our site and from various mountains and river systems around BC.Educo is also the only non-profit organization in BC that specializes in providing youth aged 9-19 with the opportunity to access pristine wilderness and we operate the only facility in the Cariboo-Chilcotin region with a certified high ropes course and full-sized rock climbing wall.
We are a charitable, financially sustainable and non-religious organization and we have affiliate Educo organizations in South Africa, the USA, Germany and Bulgaria. "Educo School" is a registered charity with the Canada Revenue Agency: BN: 118894518RR0001.
To the Students:
If you've ever tried talking in front of a group of people, then you know that it's a challenge. But by then, you'll have a whole lot of inspiration to pass on! You see, jumping off of the zipline platform, or climbing a huge peak is one kind of challenge. Finding the courage to speak about your own experience is a completely different ball game. It's the final Educo challenge and it's a great springboard to jump off toward home.
To Family and Friends:
At the end of the course, there will be plenty of adventures, victories and accomplishments to share with friends and family. We strongly encourage you to not only join in the Open House, but also to provide encouragement and support in this time of transition. Family and friends are invited to the Open House demonstration and celebration beginning at 12 noon on the last day of the course (Saturday). Please arrive at the site after 11 am. Activities will end around 2:30 pm. Travel to the site from 100 Mile house takes approximately 25 minutes.
