ABOUT CAMP
Guiding in South Australia was established in 1919 due to the demand from girls wanting to become Girl Guides. Today, Girl Guides South Australia is the largest youth organisation for girls and young women in South Australia with almost 2000 youth members and 500 volunteer Leaders and adult Members.
Girl Guides South Australia is made up of 11 Regions, which contain over 37 Districts throughout South Australia. Each District may be made up of several multi-aged Units, with youth members aged 5 to 17, Leaders (18+) and Junior Leaders (14-17) in various roles.
Girl Guides South Australia is an organisation that creates safe and friendly environments for children and young people where they can:
feel safe and are protected from harm
have a say in planning activities and other decisions affecting them
are listened to
are respected
have their best interests considered and upheld
We are an organisation that welcomes and actively seeks members from all racial, ethnic, religious and socio-economic groups. Girl Guides South Australia is a member organisation of Girl Guides Australia and a member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).
Activities available for all facility users:
Swimming - the beach is beautiful and safe for swimming
Fishing - a popular fishing spot with mulloway, mullet, trout and whiting caught regularly. Hand reels are available but BYO bait or BYO fishing rod
Dolphin watching - the Port River is home to a large pod of dolphins who love to surf the waves of the boats and ships as they go past, and they are often found near GTS Dolphin fishing or teaching their young new skills
Boating - launch your own boat from the public boat ramp next door (fees apply)
Giant Games - GTS Dolphin has a selection of giant games for indoor and outdoor use available for all users. Lots of kites too.
The indoor area is ideal for a meeting space, games area (no balls inside please) or a craft workshop, as well as using it as a dining area.
Activities available at GTS Dolphin for Members of Girl Guides SA:
Boating hire is available to qualified and experienced boating instructors. For insurance and safety purposes, we cannot hire equiptment to groups without the requisite qualified leaders. The following instructors may conduct boating training courses at Dolphin:
* Girl Guides South Australia Leaders with Boating or Canoeing qualifications
* Scout Association Leaders with Boating Charge Certificates
