Our Mission
The HeLa Ventures Adventure Education Centre is dedicated to providing individuals, groups, and families with positive and educational outdoor experiences. Our programs are delivered from a holistic perspective and encourage a healthy lifestyle through the incorporation of activities in a safe, respectful manner. Safety and environmental stewardship are the guiding factors for all of our programs
The HeLa Ventures Team
The HeLa Ventures team consists of professional educators, qualified instructors and certified guides that specialize in the delivery of adventure programs. Our areas of expertise include lake canoeing whitewater canoeing, river tripping, rafting, rock climbing, hiking, backpacking and wilderness living skills.
HeLa Ventures is an accredited member of the Alberta Camping Association.
Facility
The facility offers opportunities for groups to participate in multi-day outdoor programs. Our field school functions as a base camp for our many out trips while also filling the role as our home base for a wide variety of curriculum-based outdoor and adventure education activities.

Mountain Adventure School
HeLa Ventures Adventure Education Centre and Edmonton's Progressive Academy have collaborated to develop Mountain Adventure School for Alberta high school students. Mountain Adventure School provides students from grade 10-12 with the opportunity to earn up to eleven Alberta high school credits in the beautiful Rocky Mountains during the summer.

Alberta River Guide Training
The Adventure Leadership Practicum (ALP) is a unique program, which has evolved from the premise that a professional background in the outdoor field requires a combination of theoretical knowledge, practical skills, certifications and experience. The ALP program has been designed to provide students with that combination of training. Through formalized skills training, certification programs and work experience, ALP participants will gain practical skills that will enhance their academic training, resulting in a highly marketable professional background. Through work experience, the participant will gain an understanding of and appreciation for the many facets involved in the delivery of outdoor adventure programs.

Alberta School Group Programs
HeLa Ventures offers a variety of adventure education programs for school groups. All programs offer opportunities for integration of curriculum objectives, and focus on teaching safety knowledge, skills and judgement in outdoor adventure education activities. The programs flow from an "experiential education" framework, and thus offer learning, connections and fun!
