ABOUT CAMP
Vision
Our vision sees women shaping a world of equality, opportunity, and choice.
Mission
We are founded on the belief that women must take a leadership role in shaping society's direction in order to achieve equity and equality for all women.

ACTIVITIES
Explorers
An introductory camp for our youngest campers! Explorers participate in daily activities with their cabin group as well as large group campfires, special events and an out-trip to Teddy’s Bears Paw campsite. We offer a higher ratio of staff to campers for this younger group.
Discoverers
Discoverers spend their week trying many of the exciting activities YWCA YoWoChAs has to offer. In the morning, Discoverers join their cabin group for activities planned by their Counsellor. In the afternoon Discoverers choose two interest groups that could include: High Ropes, Canoeing, Stand Up Paddling, Bug Hunt, Arts and Crafts, Wetlands Interpretation and many more exciting activities. They also participate in campfires, out trip, all-camp games, and much more.
Discoverers - Tipi Living
Discoverers who choose the Tipi Living program participate in the regular Discoverers program as described above, but live in a tipi! This is a chance for older Discoverers to have a unique experience while still enjoying favourite outdoor activities. Discoverers Tipi Living does not go on an out trip.
Sailors
Sailors spend their days in practical and lecture sessions working towards their SAIL Canada CanSail certifications. In the evening, Sailors try other activities offered at YWCA YoWoChAs. Participants must be able to swim 25m unassisted.
Prospector Girls
Campers opting for the challenge of this advanced camping experience will receive canoe instruction, learn wall climbing techniques, try the most advanced elements on our high ropes course and go on an overnight canoe trip on Lake Wabamun. Prospectors stay in the Hilltop Cabins, allowing for a more wilderness camping experience.
Leadership Programs
YWCA YoWoChAs has a long tradition of offering excellent leadership training programs. The following programs are designed for youth who have a keen interest on being leaders in their schools, communities or camp. These programs are designed as sequential steps for campers who some day desire to be camp Counsellors. Both programs have an application and screening process which campers must complete. See the program descriptions for more details.
Leaders-In-Training
YWCA YoWoChAs is running two sessions of our highly demanded Leaders in Training program in 2015. This program gives participants the chance to learn extensively about group dynamics and examine their personal abilities as a leader. Through group discussions and practical sessions, this group will explore leadership theories, share ideas and learn from each other. Skill development in outdoor recreation activities will be a focus as will participation in all-camp events.
