ABOUT CAMP

Camp Whitney is an accredited United Church of Canada camp that gives campers, between the ages of 6 and 15, an opportunity to explore their relationship with God, with nature and with each other.   Camp Whitney is also accredited by the Alberta Camping Association.

Here at Camp Whitney we ensure the wholesome development of each camper in a safe, friendly and secure environment.  Every effort is made to ensure that your camping adventure begins at Camp Whitney.

Outdoor Activities

A variety of outdoor activities occur at Camp Whitney.  Each activity is designed with the age level of the camper in mind.  Where campers were not previously exposed to the activity, we will enable them to learn.   As always safety precautions are in place to ensure that Campers are not placed in any difficult situations.  Our outdoor activities include

CANOEING

This is open for junior to senior campers.  Campers are required to wear personal flotation devices (PFD’s) and a lifeguard will watch over campers.  Staff who have been trained in canoeing allow campers to enjoy this activity.                                                

 ARCHERY

The noble sport of archery is available for Junior to Senior campers.  This sport helps the hand eye coordination of campers and also enables campers to enjoy the outdoors while developing new skills.

BEACH TIME

Campers will be allowed time to relax and enjoy the beautiful beach.  A lifeguard is always on site while campers are in the water or on the beach front.

GAMES

A number of fun outdoor games are organized during the camps.  These games enable campers to have fun but also allow campers to work together.  We take full advantage of the outdoors and allow the campers to run, shout and use their energies while enjoying the outdoors.

OUTDOOR COOKING

What is camp without a camp fire?  What is a camp fire without the smell of marshmallows roasting, or the scent of outdoor cooking?  At Camp Whitney we have outdoor cooking and camp fire for all camps.  They are times to have fun, enjoy good food, participate in some camp fire songs, hear good stories and have beautiful fellowship with other campers.

NATURE WALKS

Walking along a lakeside or backwoods trail lets the campers experience Gods creation up close and personally.

Indoor Activities

Craft

Every camper has creativity within them.  At Camp Whitney we want to tap into that creativity.  At the Craft Shack we guide our campers to create and develop different craft items.    Every craft item created is beautiful and we celebrate the creativity of all campers.

game

What is there to do when the weather outside is too wet or cold to allow outdoor games?  Move them inside of course.  Indoor games encourage teamwork, sportsmanship, and maybe just a bit of fun.

Drama

Every camper is an actor at heart.  Drama time allows an opportunity for campers to express themselves in different ways and to develop self confidence and public speaking skills.

Talent Shows

What’s your talent? Juggling? Singing? Being able to recite the complete works of Shakespeare? Share your gift with those at camp during the talent show.
