About Camp

Founded in 2001, Camp Micah is a traditional, Jewish, co-ed, overnight summer camp for campers ages 7-17. Micah sits on the shore of fabulous Peabody Pond, on the town line between Bridgton and Sebago, Maine. We are located 2.5 hours from Boston and 45 minutes from Portland. In addition to a wide array of activities, you will find a caring and fun environment. When we say, “we have something for everyone,” we mean it.
Campers come to Micah each year for 2, 3.5 and 7.5 week sessions at our fabulous lakefront facility, just 2 and a half hours north of Boston. Our well-rounded program lets us offer sports, arts, waterfront, and individual activities. We also offer trips and special event days throughout each session.
Led by our experienced team of directors, our staff is hired very selectively and come to camp for the right reasons! Camp Micah only selects staff members that truly understand all that is involved in building a camper’s confidence and self-esteem.

Judaism is woven into the fabric of life at Micah by connecting campers to their rich Jewish heritage. Our truly unique and spirited Friday Night Services coupled with our exciting, creative and educational Shabbat programs make being Jewish fun! Although Camp Micah is not a kosher camp, we do not serve pork or shellfish at meals.

Activities
Our schedule offers campers the opportunity to choose their activities within a structured format. Although each camper has a certain amount of choice, the scheduling system is designed to require a well-rounded day filled with water activities, sports, the arts and more.
Campers are able to rank their activity preference on-line before camp begins. They then have the opportunity to modify their personalized schedules upon arrival at camp.
Throughout the session campers can also participate in many inter-camp competitions in almost all of our sporting activities. These include tournaments held at Micah or other surrounding camps.

Jewish Culture

Judaism is woven into the fabric of Micah life as we appreciate the importance of connecting our campers to their rich Jewish heritage while understanding our collective responsibility to make the world a better place. Our truly unique and spirited Friday Night Services coupled with our exciting, creative and educational Shabbat programs make being Jewish fun! Jewish knowledge is learned in school and at home, Jewish connection through community and spirit is strengthened at Micah.
Shabbat at Camp
On Friday evenings we welcome Shabbat with our Shabbat dinner, homemade Micah challah and chicken soup. The meal is followed by a spirited song session which leads into Erev Shabbat Services at the Rabbi Goldstein Chapel On The Hill overlooking the mountains and lake led by our campers and staff. During the summer, Rabbi Emily Gopen Lipof teaches us by taking life lessons and turning them into unique and entertaining stories. Following services, is a special Oneg Shabbat dessert. Micah campers and staff say that they look forward to our fun, unique Shabbat experience all week long!

Saturdays are always special: in the mornings we enjoy a late breakfast, and then begin our Shabbat morning activities. During these activities, campers have many opportunities to learn about Tikkun Olam, (repair of our world), and to use what they learn in our camp community and beyond. The activities are geared towards offerings that will help campers better themselves and/or the world. Some of these include optional Shabbat services or other exciting activities such as hikes, yoga, Judaic art, Israeli dancing and an array of social action opportunities.
Afternoons bring all-camp activities such as The Gold Rush, The Amazing Race, Israel Day, etc. followed by a cook-out dinner, our weekly campfire and Havdallah service. Included in Camp Micah’s philosophy is the understanding of our collective responsibility to make the world a better place for all people.
